Over the past 18 years hundreds of bands performed on the stages of german festival. Some of them put their feet on the festival ground more than just once. Among the international, worldwide known bands such as: Artrocity, Asylum, Crematory, Gorefest. Kreator, Oomph!, Theater of Tragedy, The Exploited, The Gathering, Amorphis, Dimmu Borgir, Dismember, Dissection, In Flames, Motörhead, Overkill, Samael, Sodom, Therion, Umbra Et Imago, Arch Enemy, Benediction, Blind Guardian, Children of Boddom, Covenant, Cradle of Filth, Gorgoroth, Hypocrisy, Lacuna Coil, Manos, Nevermore, Stratovarius, Amon Amarth, Brainstorm, Cannibal Corpse, Destruction, Enslaved, Europe, Immortal, Marduk, Mayhem, Napalm Death, Tristania, Black Lebel Society, Blaze Bayley, Dark Funeral, Entombed, Immoltation, Morbid Angel, Nightwish, Pain, Rhapsody, Testament, Venom, Zakk Wylde, Carpathian Forest, Soilwork, Halloween, Apocalyptica, Hatesphere, Machine Head, Within Temptation, Zyklon, Celtic Frost and Opeth, Poland plays its part in the perormances on the Wacken Open Air. In 1997 polish band AION appear on the stages of german festival, year later, in 1998 Poland had two representatives: Sweet Noise and well known to the intenrational audience Vader. Year 2000 brings Vader again to the stages of Wacken Open Air, and in 2001 another polish export band appeared – Behemoth. In 2003 Vader makes ablsolute polish record, performing for the third time on the festival stages. In 2007 Corruption wins Polish eddition of Wacken Metal Battle, however unfortunately in the finals gives the victory to the Brasilians from Torture Squad.
The 2008 edition of Wacken Open Air will have place from 31st of July till 2nd of August. The biggest celebrity will be the legend of heavy metal – Iron Maiden. The accompany bands are also promissing, the list consist from more than 60 bands such as: As I Lay Dying, At The Gate, Autumn, Avantasia, Axel Rudi Pell, Axxis, Before The Down, Carcass, Children Of Bodom, Cynic, Enemy Of The Sun, Ensiferum, Extrementory Grindfuckers, Exodus, Gorrerotted, Gorgototh, Grave, Hatebreed, HeaHunter, Job For Cowboy, Kamelot, Kreator, Lordi, Machine Man, Nashville Pussy, Nightwish, Obituary, Opeth, Powerwolf, Primodrial, Soilwork, Sonata Arctica, Sturm Un Drang, The Bones and Watain.
