Mile End Road, London E1 4NS
The 12th International Halloween Festival
Cost:GBP13; 2-day ticket GBP20
opening Hours:12pm-8pm
Queen Mary College in Mile End hosts the largest Pagan festival in Europe to celebrate Halloween. This two-day festival is packed with weird and wonderful events including an elaborate Halloween ritual, witchcraft, folk and rock music, free lectures and workshops concentrating on the dark and earthy arts, information about Paganism and a craft market.
One of the main highlights of the weekend is the Morris dancing. This is not the familiar skipping, jangling and leaping to be seen on village greens in the summertime, but an altogether darker affair featuring the Wild Hunt, Wolfs Head and Vixen Morris dancers, "when the magic flows dark, secretly in the dead of night, with tatters flying and staves clashing".
Money will be raised to maintain Raven Wood.
